Job Summary:
This pharmacy cashier position supports Hamilton Health Center’s Pharmacy, serving as the primary contact for greeting customers and assisting with inquiries on products, prices, and prescriptions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Process transactions accurately, handling cash, credit cards, and insurance verifications.
Input and verify prescription details, notifying pharmacists of any discrepancies.
Manage cash, provide change, and ensure a balanced cash register at the end of the shift.
Maintain accurate records of daily transactions and follow cash-handling procedures.
Stay informed about pharmacy products, including generic and brand-name medications.
Maintain a clean and organized cashier area, including organizing the will-call section.
Adhere to pharmacy and healthcare regulations, including privacy and confidentiality guidelines.
Communicate effectively with pharmacists, technicians, and other staff members.
Report customer concerns or issues to the appropriate personnel.
Minimum Education/Certifications: High school diploma is necessary or an equivalent required.
Minimum Work Experience: One year of working experience in a pharmacy setting, prior cashiering or customer service experience and knowledge of The Joint Commission regulations preferred.
Bi-lingual in Spanish, Nepali or French preferred.
